This was proved by Deshal Dan Ratanu, a resident of a small village in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Ratanu is a source of inspiration for those youth who give up in front of circumstances and stop even trying.
Yes, this is the same Deshal Dan Ratanu who despite adverse circumstances, with his passion and hard work, passed the UPSC exam in the first attempt and became an IAS. Not only this, he also got 82nd rank in this examination.

The path was not easy
Deshal Dan Ratanu was born in a family where a child could not even think of ordinary studies leave alone becoming an IAS. But Deshal did what no one had even imagined. The village boy is today an IAS officer. Father ran a tea shop, seven brothers and sisters in the family, the financial condition was such that even food at home was a problem. In such a situation, even studying was difficult. But Deshal did it.
Didn’t compromise with the situation
Deshal had a dream of becoming an officer since childhood. To give wings to his dreams, he studied hard and kept getting top marks in the class. Success kissed his feet and he got admission in IIT Jabalpur. Along with studying engineering, Deshal also started preparing for UPSC exam. There was no money for coaching, so he studied on his own and passed the UPSC exam in the first attempt.
Brother’s inspiration gave wings to success
Deshal considers his elder brother as his inspiration, who was in the Indian Navy and was martyred in 2010. His brother wanted Deshal to become an officer. There were many obstacles in fulfilling my brother’s dream. Due to financial condition, he was somehow able to study engineering, coaching is necessary to become an IAS, he did not have that much money.
Then he decided to prepare on his own. He took help in preparation from the internet. By working hard day and night, I passed the UPSC exam in the first attempt. Deshal’s message to the youth of the country is that they should never give up. Understand all the topics before the exam and revise as many times as possible. If you work hard you will definitely get success.
